The Environment
Damco in Nigeria has experienced strong growth during the past year. We are looking to further grow our business and expand operations aggressively. Nigeria is a large and exciting emerging market in Africa and Damco has only a minor market share today. Nigeria is the 2nd largest economy in Africa after South Africa and the most populous country in Sub Saharan Africa. Nigeria is the Lead Country for the Nigeria Cluster including Togo, Benin, Niger, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic and Congo.

The Position
You will hold the position of Senior Accountant for Damco in Nigeria and join a young, energetic and ambitious team of highly skilled logistics professionals. You will be ultimately responsible for credit control and other internal control management functions. You will be a key player in the further growth and development of the finance department and by extension the company as a whole.

Besides the clear responsibility for Nigeria, you may also be required to relate with other countries within the cluster( i.e Togo, Cameroon, Benin, Niger etc) as may be requested from time to time by the cluster finance manager.

Leadership Level/Reporting Line
Individual Contributor – You will be reporting to the Country Finance Manager

Specific tasks and areas of responsibility

•Manage the company credit control procedure and develop/implement enhancement where required.
•Maintain internal control Procedures and Processes
•Manage outstanding balances and contact customers before the balances become overdue
•Ensure that payments from customers are timely and correctly applied to invoices
•Set and monitor credit limits
•Follow up overdue debts with dunning letters
•Follow up with invoicing department to ensure that clients are timely invoiced for services
•Maintain comprehensive schedule of WHT deducted from invoices and follow up for tax credits
•Prepare monthly statement of accounts for clients
•Carry out balance sheet reconciliations
•Assist with Budgeting and Financial reporting
Attributes/Qualifications/skills
Able to demonstrate experience within credit control/Financial Reporting
Computer literacy- advance excel skills, knowledgeable in the use of accounting applications
Bsc/HND degree holder with minimum of 4 years post qualification experience within finance
ICAN/ACCA full or part qualification
Assertiveness and influencing skills
Good communication and problem solving skills
Analytical ability
Initiative
Good Leadership Potential
