Job Description Summary:

Under the supervision of the Head of Growth & Business Development, the Lead, Content Acquisition will be required to work with a wide range of staff across the iConcepts business. This individual will be responsible for helping to define and, in return, to execute the content strategy for digital content in Nigeria and across the sub-Sahara region.


  • Define and execute the content acquisition strategy for digital content (eBooks, music, videos and games) in Nigeria and across the sub-Sahara region.
  • Craft and document acquisition plans, financial metrics and goals for senior management
  • Review content catalogs from major entertainment studios, publishers and authors, music labels and distributors, game developers, and creators to help select and secure key titles that will help deliver against aggressive business metrics
  • Lead all aspects of content licensing negotiations, including content selection, financial analysis, forecasting, and technical requirements
  • Establish collaborative cross-functional relationships with the Products & Content Operations teams to help execute partnership requirements and deliver on business objectives
  • Maintain our content database of TV, music, books, film and digital catalogues (i.e. asset management)
  • Work with Content Operations team to ensure that all content placements are published by/within their specified times
  • Conduct reporting and data analysis to analyse partner performance, identify potential opportunities and provide key requirements to technical teams to establish relevant partner tracking mechanisms


  • Advanced university degree in Commercial Law, Communications Arts, or other relevant disciplines, with training or requisite experience in Content Acquisition in the Media/Telecommunications industry

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to negotiate complex license or business development agreements in high pressure environments
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of excellence in a similar role
  • Critical thinker with attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated communication and relationship building skills
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills
