Job Description

University of Mkar, Mkar a rapidly growing private Christian University located in Benue State, Nigeria is looking for God fearing, visionary, enterprising, self-motivated, goal driven, experienced and competent individuals with proven integrity and track record of performance to fill the vacant position below in the University:
Position: Registrar
The Registrar shall hold office for a period of five (5) years commencing from the effective date of his appointment and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment and may be re-appointed for one further period of five (5) years and no more.
Schedule:
The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University except as regards matters for which the Bursar is responsible. By virtue of his position, the Registrar shall be Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation,
Qualification:
 An applicant for the position of Registrar must have an honours Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the Humanities not below Second Class (lower division) obtained from a recognized University.
 Possession of postgraduate qualification and membership of relevant professional bodies will be added advantage.
Experience:
 Applicants, who should not be above 55 years of age should be seasoned administrators with appreciable professional training and cognate experience in administration, preferably in a University or similar educational institution, and must have had at least fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience, seven (7) of which must be relevant to the post being applied for.
 Candidates must be ICT compliant and command respect from his colleagues.
 The candidate should be generally versed with University procedures possess strong potentials for effective leadership, show capacity for job planning and coordination good human relations and most importantly, ability to interpret and apply University rules and regulations correctly. Serving Officers who wish to apply must not be below the rank of Deputy Registrar or its equivalent. The Registrar should, in addition, have the skills necessary to manage a private establishment.

Position: Bursar
The Bursar shall hold office for a period of five (5) years commencing from the effective date of his appointment and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment and may be re-appointed for one further period of five (5) years and no more.
Schedule:
The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the finances of the University.
Qualification:
 Candidates must possess a good university degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution plus professional certification by a reputable accounting body, preferably ICAN, ANAN or ACCA.
 In addition, candidate must be ICT compliant and demonstrate ability to formulate and implement financial policies, produce manual of University financial procedures, offer sound financial advice as well as exhibit resourcefulness in revenue generation.
Experience:
 Applicants, who should not be above 55 years of age must have had at least fifteen (15) years postgraduate experience, seven (7) of which must be in a University or comparable institution.

Position: Deputy Registrar
The Deputy Registrar shall assist the Registrar in the discharge of his responsibilities
Qualification and Experience:
 Candidates must possess a good honours degree not lower than 2nd Class (lower division) from a recognized university, preferably in the humanities. Candidates should also have at least ten (10) years post qualification administrative experience in a University of comparable institution of learning.
 Possession of postgraduate degree and membership of relevant professional bodies will be added advantage,
 Candidates must also be ICT compliant. Serving officers who wish to apply must have at least four years experience on the rank of Principal Assistant Registrar or its equivalent in a University or comparable institution
Conditions of Service;
Conditions of service are as applicable to Registrars of Nigerian Universities, save as may be determined by the Governing Council.
