Urgent Genuine Vacancy in a leading African financial services group:

POSITION: Field Officer

Reports to: Senior Field Officer

Location: Lagos

Purpose of role

The incumbent is responsible for marketing all the institutions’ products and services, targeting of clients, business analysis, decision making, disbursement of loans, collection of repayments, monitoring and recovery of the target group assigned to him/her with a specific focus on lending while following all the institution’s standards, policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Through field contact undertake marketing / sales and encourage new potential clients to seek Institution’s financial services in the assigned zone within the branch area with the goal of achieving targets set for lending, deposits, portfolio PAR etc. as assigned.

2. Deliver excellent customer service, respecting response times in each step and case.

3. Take full responsibility for the assigned customer portfolio and all disbursed loans.

4. Be able to explain all the institution’s products, services, prices, conditions and fees clearly to clients.

5. Train and provide follow-up assistance to customers on business plans, business visits, loan application forms and other necessary loan processing and delivery documents; ensure all necessary documents are verified and attached such as passport photographs/group photographs, ID cards etc.

6. Processes loan applications by verifying necessary information and makes recommendation of only the best clients to the loan approval committee

7. Presents and defends loan applications to the relevant credit committee.

8. Informs loan applicants of the decisions of the loan committee.

9. Ensures all loan documentation for approved loans including repayment schedule, loan agreement and promissory notes are made and delivered to clients.

10. Ensure correct documentation and filing of the appropriate loans processing documentation, ensure all files have requisite signatures, all group/internal communications are filed and files are in a safely lockable cabinet.

11. Ensure all relevant institutional policies and especially lending and credit policies, standards and procedures are adhered to by all lending and recovery staff; ensure control and efficiency are maintained at all times.

12. Ensures repayments are made before 12:00pm of the repayment as per the loan schedule and customers that have not made the payment have been followed up and report tabled and discussed with the manager.

13. Monitor daily repayments and maintain a high loan repayment quality and very low Portfolio at Risk (PAR). Make every effort to recover non-performing loans.

14. Document all processes for clients in arrears as required.

15. Assist legal and recovery processes where required.

16. Ensure confidentiality of all customer information is maintained at any point in time.

17. Periodically visit businesses to assist clients with technical advice, answer questions and verify the economic standing of the enterprise. To have good knowledge about the businesses of all clients.

18. Undertake clients’ orientation sessions and workshops as necessary.

19. Ensure that reports are made on time and targets set are met.

20. Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Senior Field Officer, Branch Manager or Management.

Thinking Requirements and Working Complexity:

1. Ability to meet targets – Highly motivated self-starter who can operate well with minimal supervision.

2. Ability to identify risks in customer’s businesses and proactively work on mitigating the risks.

3. Analytical thinking and attention to detail coupled with the ability to decide it a certain customer is worth pursuing or not.

Knowledge and Experience Required of Job Holder:

1. Diploma in a related field is an advantage.

2. A degree in any business studies.

3. Excellent verbal communication skills in at least one local language in addition to English. Able to build relationships built on trust.

4. Good selling and negotiation skills.

5. Minimum 3 years in a similar role. Work experience in Microfinance will be an added advantage.

6. Proficient in Microsoft office, especially excel.

7. Strong customer experience focus.

8. Sound business sense, entrepreneurial understanding.
